The Toastmaster for the first Speech Session was Daniel, introducing 2 speakers;

Tiffany took us on a wonderfully picturesque travel log in a speech entitled “A Road Trip of The West Coast of the U.S.” providing a great incentive to visit this divergent and abundantly beautiful coastal fringe of her country of birth.

The second speaker was Farzad with an intriguingly entitled speech: “Eyes In The Sky” in which Fazard revealed a whole other area of personal expertise in the assessment of how some experts had ‘broken the bank’ at major Casinos playing Blackjack by ‘counting cards. Intriguing stuff!

Lyndal provided a very considered and encouraging Evaluation of Tiffany’s superb travel log while Glenn D provided a very comprehensive Evaluation of Farzad’s very well researched and presented speech.

The half-time General Evaluation was delivered very succinctly by Heather.

S@A Glenn D brought us back after a 10 minute Break and handed over to Farzard in his first role as Chairman for the second half of the meeting.

Glenn D delivered a very moving Toast “To Having Roots” after relaying his recent return to this very large extended family in Indonesia over the holiday break.

As Toastmaster for the Second Session Heather, introduced 2 speakers; Dai Fei continuing her Advanced Communicator Series with a “Press Conference” in which Dai Fei gave an updated account of the physical and emotional condition of the young fire victim Yu Yang and her path to recovery and how everything is being done to get her back up to speed with her studies. The topic being close to reality for Dai Fei she was then required to field questions.

Paul then delivered a very thought provoking speech entitled: “Be a Good Citizen” in which he drew on a life of observations of how peoples attitudes have changed over the years toward caring for others and being accountable for our own actions. A very pointed and evocative challenge for us all.

Table Topics was presided over by John who started a ‘Round Robin’ style storyline about a Road Trip to central Australia which as each member in turn had to respond to the tightly timed 60 seconds that had preceded them, took on all manner of extraordinary twists and turns. The second speaker was Glenn D with his Folktale from the Advanced Communicator Series – with a speech entitled: “How Not to Treat Your Mother” a amusing but poignant tale from Glenn’s native Indonesia telling the tale of pride and prejudice and the consequences that finally catch up with those who mistreat their Mums.

The half-time General Evaluation was delivered very succinctly by Mark.

In the meantime John became aware that there appeared to be no action on the ‘food front’ and after making enquiries found that the ball had been dropped with the Head Chef away and our ‘mid-meeting refreshments were not on the Kitchen’s radar. The Club Staff quickly kicked into gear and while they prepared some finger food it was decided to bring forward a planned working session and move the Break back a smidge.

Introduced by Toastmaster for the Second Session Philip, VPE Meghan officiated over a Group Working Session to discuss and contribute toward refinements and suggestions for the Meeting Agenda’s for the year ahead. After a slightly slow start the ideas and comments started to flow thick and fast. Meghan will then report back to the meeting with an assessment of all the ideas we knocked around and how they might be implemented in the near future.

We then went to an extended break to enjoy some hot refreshments and a more social interactive and extended Break to acknowledge the end of a calendar year..
