CONCORD WEST TOASTMASTER LEADING THE WAY IN ZOOM INNOVATION

Our Club was not only one of the first Clubs in District 70 to both Trial and hold online Zoom Meetings. 

However members of our Club have introduced some really innovative ways of constantly challenging the Medium.

Our Club has initiated an alternative method of managing the timing of all presentation components of a Club Meeting.

More recently  looking at an alternative to our Big Ears component where we challenge Members listening skills with an online program called Kahoot.

CLUB EXECUTIVE ZOOM TRIAL MEETING

The Club Executive met to plan an alternative Meeting format in early March in order to deal with the increasing restrictions coming into force due to COVID19.

We decided to hold a truncated Demonstration meeting utilising the Members of the Executive. The 2-Fold purpose to see what worked, what didn’t and how to work around such issues.

The second purpose was to record the meeting and put it up on our YoutUbe Channel so Members could access it and gain confidence in time for our next scheduled Club meeting on the 27th March.

The result was unanimously successful with demonstrations of the 3 Toastmaster components;

1. Prepared Speech
2. Evaluation
3. Table Topics.

The Club Executive was very encouraged that this alternative would work well for the Club.

DISTRICT 70 BUS PROMOTION CAMPAIGN

Concord West Club President John Hughson has had involvement in the preparation of the latest District 70 Promotional Campaign – Bus Posters. 
John was asked to coordinate and direct a Photo Shoot of District 70 Toastmasters Members from throughout District 70 for a Campaign that would see 3 different Banners prepared for distribution on Government Buses in the Western Suburbs, South-West, South Coast and ACT.
The photoshoot was undertaken at very short notice in the week leading up to Christmas at a studio in Randwick. 
Toastmasters from all over Sydney were allocated into small groups of 3 and the shots taken. Then over the Christmas New Year break John undertook extensive retouching and preparation of 3 different layouts to meet a mid-January Production deadline.
The Buses hit the road in early February and have been spotted by various members of District 70 running around spreading the simple message of the benefits of Toastmasters.

Plus moral and audience support from Sonya, Aileen and her husband as well as our recent visitors Vivek and Ann. 
The Club can be very proud of our team.

The Contest also gave our Humorous Speech Winner and Immediate Past President Peter Crosby an opportunity to catch up with all the members of his Phillip Division Leadership Team from 2015 when Peter was Phillip Division Governor (Director) and supported by: (L>R) Osvaldo, Susan, Maria, Dianne and John.
