CONCORD WEST TOASTMASTERS CLUB – 22nd AUGUST 2023 – MEETING No: 1446 – F2F

“TABLE TOPICS EVENING”

 

Venue – Concord Memorial Hall

GAMES SESSION ONE:  – Lana S.

1.    Start with a single Word and expand the story and go to the next person – ALL

2.    Follow a Common Theme and expand the Dialogue – ALL

3.    Teams of 3 Draw a single narrative using just 3 Lines. Choose one narrative and all 3 prepare to act/mime out the story – ALL

4.    Follow a Common Theme and expand the Dialogue – ALL

5.    2 Members start a mime action then have each member in turn call FREEZE then tap one participant and replace them with an alternate action. ALL

BREAK: 

 

The questions were challenging and the Sessions were great fun.

GAMES SESSION TWO:  – Lana S.

1.    Who Am I Questions. A member leaves the room. The remaining Members select a prominent person and when the member returns they can provide responses to a series of questions in order to obtain their Identity. – 

a.    Glenn T – The Rock (Wayne Johnson) Had never heard of him 😊

b.    Mario G – Mother Theresa (Got it in 2 questions)

2.    Expert Interviews; 2 Members are given a topic in which they are experts.
They are interviewed by a panel of journalists who have to guess their area of expertise;

a.     John H & Kelly Z = Oil Refining Industry

b.    Lana S & Stacey K = Catapillars

c.    Dennis S & Brendan D = Healing Crystals

3.    Teams of 3 Draw a single narrative using just 3 Lines. Choose one narrative and all 3 prepare to act/mime out the story – ALL

4.    Teams of two were given a 2 part Script of boring text.
Together they had to bring the text to life in a manner that evoked a scenario
The rest of the audience then had to predict what that scenario and those characters were.

Business Session: Melody L. (Treasurer)

Spoke to the proposal of a Fee increase for the Semi Annuals from October 2023 to cover the increased costs form Toastmaster International.

The relevant Motion was put and voted on unanimously by a Quorum of Active Members

Lana then went round as each Member (and Visitors) drew a piece of paper and that task became your role for the evening.

An opportunity to swap roles was available but no one took it up except overlaps.
