DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2015

Concord West had a very strong contingent at this year’s District 70 Conference held over the weekend of May 16, 17 and 18.
With a significant number of Club Members holding District, Division and Area Roles and also performing various duties over the weekend all members can be very proud of our level of involvement outside of our Club.

This Conference – entitled ‘The Dawn of a New Era’ saw 3 intense Business Sessions on the Saturday morning as the Old District 70 was closed off. The New District 70 (NSW south of the Parramatta River) was instigated. And the new District 90 (NSW north of the Parramatta River) was formed.

Lyndal Eager Tucker kept the very busy weekend schedule on track as S@A for all sessions.
Anna Perdriau had a very busy Saturday morning in her role as District 70 Treasurer.
Peter Crosby in his almost final role as Phillip Division Governor, was successful in his nomination for the new District 70 role as Director of Club Growth for 2015-16.

Area Governor John Hughson undertook the role of MC at the Recognition Awards Luncheon on the Saturday also picking up 2 Public Relations Awards (for Print Brochure and Website) on behalf of Concord West Club.

Club Member and District 70 Treasurer Anna Perdriau was Chief Judge for the Evaluation Contest on the Sunday morning while Club President and Area 6 Governor (Elect) Katherine Trulicio was seconded to be one of the Timers and Kate Crosby performed the role of a Counter while Daniel Tucker was a S@A for the Contest.

Also in attendance in his role as Region 12 Advisor was Philip Bendeich.
Two further members of our Club Riza and Sharon Cimen also attended the Saturday evening International Speech Contest that saw Parramatta Club Contestant David Griffiths victorious (again) in what was well recognised as a highly competitive field and earn his passage to Las Vegas later in the year to represent District 70 in the World Championships.

This will be the final year that District 70 will see 10 Division Contestants compete for the 4 Contests throughout the year as 4 Divisions head north to join a 5th in forming the new District 90.

CONCORD WEST TOASTMASTERS UP AT DAWN

Concord West Toastmasters continues to support the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at our host venue Concord RSL. This year we had a record turn out at this the 100th Anniversary Service. The car park was almost full to capacity on a fine crips April morning.

In attendance from our Club this year were L>R: Region 12 Adviser Philip Bendeich, District 70 Treasurer Anna Perdriau, Phillip Division Governor Peter Crosby, Club Vice President Education Heather Gordon, Daniel Tucker, Club President Katherine Trulicio, District 70 S@A Lyndal Eager-Tucker, Area 6 Governor John Hughson, Club Secretary Glen Hobbs and brand new member Jake Perkins. Plus somewhere lost in the back of the crowd was another new member Simon Lange.

A number of us then squeezed our way into the Club for the traditional ANZAC Breakfast and some chit chat as only Toastmasters know how.
