Christmas Break for the New Year

CLUB MEMBER TAKES OUT THE DISTRICT 70 2015 HUMOROUS SPEECH CONTEST

Although not ‘formally’ representing Concord West Club on this occasion, long-time Club member and regular competitor John Hughson won the 2015 District 70 Humorous Speech Contest held in Woden ACT on Saturday 14^th November 2015.

John, representing Phillip Division, was one of 6 Division winning Speakers within District 70, which spans the southern half of NSW south of the Parramatta River and incorporating 178 Toastmaster Clubs.

While John was formally representing our ‘sister’ Club of Concord Yaralla, this is the first time a representative of our Area 6 and Phillip Division has taken out a District Speech Award in living memory.

John was joined by a number Concord West Club Members in Canberra as part of his ‘cheer-squad’ including District 70 Club Growth Director Peter Crosby and wife Kate Crosby, Area 6 Director Katherine Trulicio and the District 70 Sound Team, Daniel and Lyndal Tucker.

1. 1.    Area Director Katherine T reminded the upcoming 30^th Anniversary Celebration Dinner for neighbouring Area 6 Club – Smooth Speech Toastmasters. Invitations coming. 21^st November at Burwood RSL.
2. VPPR John H advised that the Executive maybe advising plans for an end-of-year Club Social function and more information would be announced later.
3. 2.    Region 12 Advisor Philip B passed on the Club’s best wishes to John H competing the following weekend in the District 70 Humorous Speech Contest at the District 70 Semi-Annual Conference in Canberra.
