Philip delivered an Educational on Contests with particular focus on the International Contest guidelines, judging and purpose. It served as a excellent guide to demonstrate to ALL Club Members how everyone has a role to play – and opportunity to learn – even if you are not yet qualified or yet willing to actually compete.

Peter then delivered a presentation from the Advanced Communicator Manual “The Radio Interview” in which he enlisted the assistance of John to conduct a Radio Interview. John played the role of the Interviewer on a popular Radio Show interviewing Peter about his involvement in Toastmasters. It proved to be an excellent insight into the workings, purposes and practices of the organization, particularly give the number of Visitors we hand on hand tonight.

The Educational required no Evaluation but Peter was Evaluated by Daniel.

Peter delivered the half-time General Evaluation very succinctly.

Glenn D brought us back after a 10 minute Break and handed over to Helen in her first ever role as Chairperson for the second half of the meeting.
Farzad delivered the Toast with a tribute to ‘Those who make us smile”.

As Toastmaster for the Second Session Brett, introduced; Daniel with a speech entitled “The Abstract Concept” and was expertly Evaluated by Lyndal.

Table Topics was presided over by Mark utilizing modern technology with an App on his SmartPhone to pick random topics for each participant. It worked exceptionally well and provided a great variety of divergent issues for members to address. Evaluations were presented by John and Farzad.

Grammarian and Word of the Day were duly noted by Tiffany.
The Big Ears was presented by Samuel in his first venture into this role.

Standing in for an absent  S@A John called the meeting to order and handed it over to Area 6 Governor Brett for a General Welcome, which included 2 Visitors: Mike and Alicia before turning the meeting over to the Chairperson for the first half, VPE Meghan.

There were formal Apologies from: Peter, Amelia, Kimberly, Tiffany, Dai Fei, Farzard, Lyndal, Daniel, Marlowe, Samuel and Glenn D.

In keeping with Australia Day this week, Meghan asked us to all stand to acknowledge the Australian National Anthemas it was played. Before setting us the task of outlining our plans ahead for the New Year as part of our Introductions.

Helen read the Mission of the Club for the first time.

Grammarian Paul presented Word of the Day – [Petulant]

The Agenda Update and Forward Planner update were officiated over by VPE Meghan with a significant number of holes to fill. And it was decided as a new innovation to have Leadership Manual Evaluations handled by the person immediately next to you.

The Toastmaster for the first Speech Session was Brett, introducing 1 speaker;

Melanie presented her Ice Breaker with extraordinary clarity, preparation and confidence, in which, in keeping with the Ice Breaker concept we all learnt a great deal more about Melanie. (The Editor apologizes that the Speech title was not recorded).

Meghan provided a very encouraging Evaluation of Melanie’s Ice Breaker confirming the meetings enthusiasm at such a well presented speech.

The half-time General Evaluation was delivered very succinctly by Glen H.

John brought us back after a 10 minute Break and handed over to himself as Chairman for the second half of the meeting.

Heather delivered the Toast with meticulous attention to the procedural aspects of a Toast from which all new Members can learn a great deal.

As Toastmaster for the Second Session Mark, introduced 2 speakers; Sanga with a speech entitled “Cloud Computing” in which he demonstrated his expertise in this latest foray into digital file sharing with a very clear and well structured presentation.

Paul then delivered a very amusing glimpse into his recent circumstances with a speech entitled: “Let’s Move House” in which he had to focus particularly on Vocal Variety. Paul took us through the all too familiar pain of packing, moving and unpacking and all the unrelated issues that confront us when taking this somewhat drastic step.

Sanga was ably Evaluated by Glen H and Paul by Heather in text book assessments and observations of balance and encouragement.

Table Topics was presided over by Meghan drawing on the earlier theme of ‘Australia Day and how to Celebrate’. This theme stimulated a number interesting responses from participants all of whom were Evaluated by Heather and Bernard.
