CONCORD WEST TOASTMASTERS – DISTRICT 70 MENTORING 101- SUNDAY 17th OCTOBER 2021

 Concord West Club was approached by the conveners of the monthly 'Golden Nuggets' Educational Session in District 70 to run a Workshop on Mentoring. This invitation came asa  direct response to the Club Winning the  District 70 Rick Haynes Mentoring Excellence Award for a second year running.

Club President and Area 6 Director Lana, secured the input of the 3 Immediate Past Presidents, Harini, Peter and John to present 3 modules:

1. Harini – The Vision
2. Peter – The Implementation
3. John – The Sustainability

Before Lana chaired a Q&A segment which included 2 Members of our Club, Sonya and Melody, who are not only both Mentees and Mentors, but have both recently had Competition Success to Division level as well.

Lana operated an online Question Board and all 5 panelists responded to a diversity of questions.

In Area 6 we work hard – and play even harder! 

On Wednesday night we battled it out for Olympics glory. 

Split into four (mixed Club) teams to be challenged by 6 very intense games.

Challenge One – ‘Puzzles’

Host – Burwood Toastmasters –  Hendrik L.

The ‘Sharks’ stole the prize from the Dingoes by 1 point. 

 

Challenge Two – ‘Name the Alphabet’

Host – Concord Yaralla Toastmasters –  Vanessa L.

The ‘Dingoes’ quickly came back by winning this round.

 

Challenge Three – ‘Mime’

Host – Smooth Speech Toastmasters –  Peter G.

The ‘Sharks’ reasserted their authority winning this round.

 

Challenge Four – ‘Guess Who? – Baby Photos

Host – Concord Yaralla Toastmasters –  Vanessa L.

The ‘Dingoes’ levelled the Gold Medals tally again by another one-point margin!

 

Challenge Five – ‘Wackiest Story’

Host – Concord West Toastmasters –  Ann S.

The ‘Kangaroos’ came from behind in this round-robin continuous story challenge voted by their peers and jumping into third place Bronze.

 

Challenge Six – ‘Kahoot’

Host – Burwood Toastmasters –  Hendrick L.

It all came down to the last challenge "Kahoot! Trivia”.

In this individual online game, Lana S Area 6 Director and member of Concord West TM secured the Gold for The ‘Dingoes’ beating Kate Crosby from The ‘Sharks’ who took out the Silver by a whisker.

Well done all to the members of Area 6!

CONCORD WEST SHINES AT THE 2020/2021 DISTRICT AWARDS CEREMONY

On Saturday 4th September District 70 conducted another excellent Online District Awards Ceremony to Celebrate and acknowledge the past Toastmaster Year.

Concord West Toastmaster Members; Treasurer Melody, VPM Vivek and President Lana provided support to the District 70 Tech Team in managing the proceedings Chat, the Videos and the Spotlight Interview segments.

Philip was Master of Ceremonies extraordinaire.

Peter proposed an excellent Toast to the past year.

Concord West took out the Rick Haynes Trophy for Mentoring Excellence for a second year in a row and Peter accepted the Award as the Immediate Past Mentoring Administrator.

 

Concord West Club received one of the 3 District Public Relations Awards – for the Best Promotion of a Special Event for the Christmas Around the World International Online Event last December among others.

Both Philip and Lana received recognition for achieving Triple Crown Awards for the year and Philip was also recognised for his 20 Year Service Award.

John was the recipient of the District 70 Staff Officer of the Year Award for his roll as the Graphics Liaison for 2020/2021.
